A Virtual Tour of The City of WinnipegThere's lots of golf in and around WinnipegAs we slowly work our way down the Red I keep an eye out for a giant bunch of bananas. I tell this to our tour guide and with a laugh stops our craft on the bank of the river next to a golf course. "Here are your bananas" I'm told. All of a sudden I realize my error. Of course, look at the pattern, not so much a bunch of bananas, but more like the 'links' of some sausage. All this talking of food is making me hungry. Fortunately, Winnipeg has a healthy cultural diversity, which, just my luck, is often expressed in the great choices of dining experiences one can enjoy. So, before we start out on a quick game of golf it's a nice thick western steak, or maybe something curried, how about a nice stir fry, no, I've got it.....perogies from heaven!
After the 19th hole our guide points out that there are lots of golf courses within and around the city. I stopped counting at twenty (I ran out of fingers and toes), can you find them all? Back on the Red and back towards the Forks our guide tells us of another important waterway. Not the Assiniboine (our destination) but Duff's Ditch, more commonly known as the Greater Winnipeg or Red River Floodway.
